My Story as a Military Wife, Mom, and Future Bride
Born in Nigeria, shaped by Italy, and refined in France, I bring a multicultural eye to every beauty story. As a bridal hair and makeup artist for destination weddings, I believe in creating moments that feel authentic, intentional, and timeless. Through this blog, I share the artistry, inspiration, and emotions behind every “I do.”
Because I believe beauty is more than makeup, it’s the language of emotion, culture, and storytelling.
I’m Valentina, a destination bridal hair and makeup artist based in France, creating modern, natural and luxurious looks for brides traveling from all over the world. Most days, you’ll find me somewhere between the French Alps and the lakes, with my kit in one hand and a bottle of water in the other, getting a bride ready to walk down the aisle.
I’m also a military wife, a mom, and a future 2026 bride myself. Which means I don’t just show up with brushes and pins. I show up with a deep understanding of what this day means, how many moving pieces there are, and how emotional it can be to plan a destination wedding from another country. My job is to make your beauty experience feel calm, intentional and stress-free, so you can actually enjoy the morning of your wedding instead of worrying about it.

I met my partner during my hairdressing training, not in a romantic movie setting, but in the middle of a Vigipirate security patrol. He would walk past the salon three times a day in full uniform, while I was inside learning how to hold my scissors properly. We matched on a dating app, exchanged a few messages… and suddenly, life went very fast.
For two months, we waited excitedly for his upcoming week off, dreaming about finally spending more time together. And then, just two days before his leave, I received a text message:
He was being deployed to Iraq for 4 to 6 months.
I still remember riding my bike home after reading his message … crying, breathless, unable to see the road through my foggy eyes. That moment, as raw and unexpected as it was, made me realize something simple and terrifying:
I loved him.
So I chose to wait for him.
Even though, in reality, we barely knew each other.
Even though everything felt uncertain.
Nine years later, we’re still here… building a life, raising our son Bryan, planning our own wedding, and navigating this beautifully chaotic world together.
Loving a military man means learning to live with uncertainty, the kind that arrives without warning, changes plans overnight, and teaches you to adapt faster than you thought you could.
It means building strength in the quiet moments, trusting without always understanding, and holding your breath every time the phone rings at the wrong hour.
I learned to reorganize everything at the last minute.
To stay calm when life becomes unpredictable.
To create softness in the middle of chaos.
To find stability inside myself when nothing around me was stable.
These aren’t just personal lessons — they shaped the way I show up for my brides.
Because wedding mornings, especially destination weddings, have their own version of unpredictability:a delayed photographer, a sudden change of timeline, a stressful moment, a dress malfunction, a tear that appears exactly when makeup is done.
And because of the life I live, I don’t panic.
I don’t rush.
I don’t get overwhelmed.
I adjust quickly, quietly, and professionally, the same way I had to learn to adjust when the army decided our plans without asking us.
This part of my story is why I bring a calm, grounded presence to every bridal morning.
Why I’m able to keep the room serene even when emotions run high.
And why so many brides tell me they didn’t just hire a hair and makeup artist… they hired peace of mind.

Becoming a mom changed me in ways I didn’t expect.
It slowed me down, grounded me, and taught me how to hold space for someone else with patience and intention. My son Bryan brought a new kind of softness into my life. The kind that makes you more attentive, more intuitive, more present.
Motherhood taught me to read emotions before they’re spoken.
To sense when someone is anxious, excited, overwhelmed, or simply trying to hold it together.
To create calm with just my tone, my energy, or the way I move around a room.
These are skills no school teaches, yet they became essential in my work as a bridal artist.
On a wedding morning, I’m not just doing hair and makeup.
I’m supporting a woman who is stepping into one of the most emotional days of her life — sometimes joyful, sometimes tender, sometimes fragile.
And being a mom gave me this ability to nurture without taking over, to guide without imposing, and to bring warmth into a moment that often feels bigger than words.
Bryan made me softer, but also stronger.
He taught me patience, emotional intelligence, and a deeper kind of presence, the kind that brides notice immediately.
And in a world as fast-paced as weddings, that softness becomes a kind of luxury too.
I didn’t become an entrepreneur because it sounded glamorous.
I became an entrepreneur because life needed flexibility and because I wanted to build a career that aligned with my values, my family, and the woman I was becoming.
Between military schedules, motherhood, and the unpredictable rhythm of our life, I needed a path where I could create my own structure.
A path where I wasn’t limited by fixed hours or rules that didn’t make sense for our reality.
A path where my talent, my discipline, and my vision could finally breathe.
Starting my business wasn’t easy, but it felt right.
I learned how to grow a brand from scratch, how to serve clients with intention, and how to navigate a world where your success depends entirely on the quality of your work and the depth of your heart.
Entrepreneurship taught me resilience.
It taught me the power of consistency.
It taught me that excellence isn’t an act — it’s a standard you carry every day, even when no one is watching.
And it gave me something priceless:
the ability to be fully present for my brides, and fully present for my family, without having to choose between the two.
Today, my business is more than a job.
It’s a home I built for myself.
A space where beauty meets intention, where professionalism meets warmth, and where every bride I work with receives the very best of me.
Everything I’ve lived… the uncertainty, the waiting, the softness, the strength, the constant need to adapt, shows up with me on your wedding morning.
It’s why I don’t panic when timelines shift.
It’s why I can read a room within seconds.
It’s why I know how to calm a bride who suddenly feels overwhelmed, or guide her gently back into the moment she’s waited for her whole life.
Being a military wife taught me discipline, patience, and emotional resilience.
Becoming a mom taught me presence, intuition, and warmth.
Becoming an entrepreneur taught me professionalism, structure, and an uncompromising standard of excellence.
Together, these experiences allow me to create the kind of beauty experience every destination bride dreams of:
✨ Calm energy, even when emotions run high
✨ Graceful adaptability when something unexpected happens
✨ A timeline that stays on track — without ever feeling rushed
✨ A safe, warm, human presence that keeps you grounded
✨ A luxury-level result that holds from morning to night
You’re not just hiring someone to do your hair and makeup.
You’re inviting someone into your most intimate, emotional hours. And you deserve someone who can hold that moment with intention, grace, and mastery.
This is what I bring to your wedding day.
Not just beauty…but peace of mind.

My bridal beauty philosophy is rooted in the belief that elegance begins with authenticity.
A bride should look like herself — luminous, confident, and effortless — with a touch of artistry that feels timeless in every photograph.
I’m drawn to natural textures, soft luminosity, and the kind of beauty that breathes.
Fresh, glowy skin that catches the morning light.
Soft waves and modern chignons that move gently with the wind.
Colors that enhance rather than overpower.
Details that feel intentional and refined.
Every look I create is guided by three inspirations:
✨ Your essence: the way you smile, the way you move, the way you want to feel when you walk down the aisle.
✨ Your environment: the mountains, the lake, the château, the atmosphere of your destination wedding.
✨ Your story: the quiet moments, the emotions, the meaning behind this day.
Bridal beauty, to me, is about harmony, the harmony between you and your dress, your look and your venue, your emotions and the moment you’re stepping into.
It’s the kind of beauty that feels effortless up close, and unforgettable from afar.
The kind that stays with you long after the wedding is over.
Every bride deserves a beauty experience that feels steady, serene, and deeply human … especially when you’re getting married far from home.
If this is what you’re looking for, I’d love to hear from you.
